who we are
alex hoff is what some call “an idea guy.”
The search for that A-ha moment when an idea clicks lead him to create Production non grata.
As a developer, creative and producer he has sold over a dozen series totaling more than a hundred hours to Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, National Geographic and Vice.
After a stint in political advertising, he joined the family business at Hoff Productions where he eventually became Vice President of Development. While at Hoff he developed and served as executive producer on History Channel’s Detroit Steel, Discovery’s What Could Possibly Go Wrong?, Viceland’s Donkmaster, and National Geographic’s Pikes Peak Patrol among many others.
Alex also helped Hoff expand into the branded space with Super Factories: Breitling, Breitling: The Aviators Watch, and Kaz Mineral’s Mining Impossible.
For the last three years he lived in Seoul, South Korea where he packaged and made deals for CJ ENM format From Start Till Clear as well as producing a documentary about Korean Baseball.
Building on his strong global connections, Hoff found Production Non Grata to identify, develop and sell content in the global marketplace. In 2024, Hoff will be relocating to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Why Production Non Grata?
Inspired by Alex’s wife’s work as a diplomat that has sent them around the world “Persona Non Grata” is the diplomatic term for someone who has pushed things too far in a host country and has been kindly asked to leave.
We can promise that we aren’t breaking any laws. But pushing the limits does inspire our work at every level.
We want the projects no one will take on and are so crazy they don’t even have a box to be outside of.
Think of us your own Development Skunkworks and Production Special Forces - Fast, relentless and always deliver.
